How we measured this

This guide uses the Immersion Atlas snapshot dated 2026-08-30: 2,625 videos and 7,862,036 tokens from 20160318 through 20260814. All 2,625 available transcripts were read from our existing cache. They are YouTube automatic captions, not publishable quotations; unavailable, private, and deleted videos are absent from the snapshot.

The candidate list was written by hand for a learner trying to follow this channel, then cut by evidence. A word survives only when its best-attested spelling appears in at least 20 videos across 5 upload years and clears JMdict (or carries an explicit hand-checked reading). We do not impose a category-keyness floor: in a creator guide, ordinary conversational machinery is part of the subject. Explicit expression patterns need 10 videos across 4 years. That leaves 202 words and 39 expressions.

Every printed example is hand-authored and its furigana is generated from the same sentence used by the deck. “Hear it on the channel” opens a separately measured timestamp where the form occurs; the surrounding ASR is kept only for editorial checking and never reproduced as a quote. Many videos include guests and collaborators, and the captions have no speaker labels. The counts therefore describe language heard across Hikaru's channel conversations. They do not prove that Hikaru personally uttered every item. Treat the bars as robust reach signals, not exact linguistic totals.
